Professional Interests: My past/current research interests include areas in which psychology and law overlap, such as civil competency decisions, how clinical decisions inform legal judgments, victim impact statements and advance directives, as well as mindfulness and its correlates. Future areas of research include patient-provider communication, LGBTQ health disparities and microaggressions. Clinical areas of specialization include mindfulness and acceptance-based clinical interventions, the multidisciplinary delivery of clinical services in medical and correctional settings, addiction, dually diagnosed individuals, neuropsychological assessment and borderline personality disorder.
Impressions and Experiences in the Health Psychology Program: This program has been instrumental in launching my career as a Clinical Health Psychologist and providing the necessary foundation to excel on internship and in academia. What I value most about my training at UNCC is the multidisciplinary nature of it, including collaborations across departments/disciplines. I feel grateful, excited and proud for the privilege to call the faculty, staff, alumni and students in UNCC’s Health Psychology Program my colleagues, mentors and friends. What a great network of people to have in my corner as I continue with my professional growth and development!
